Qu Benqiao, born in the Tongzhi period of the Qing Dynasty, was an outstanding figure in Qixian County, Shanxi Province and even in the Late modern period of China. In the 31st year of the Guangxu reign (1905), Shanxi merchants launched a vigorous mining protection movement to reclaim the coal mining rights in Yangquan, Lu'an, and other places that were sold to the Yingshangfu Company by the Qing government. Qu Benqiao actively ran and called for unity from all walks of life, assisting the authorities of Shanxi Province in negotiating with Yingshangfu Company. After repeated and intense struggles, they agreed to raise funds to redeem the mining rights. In the event of redeeming the mining rights, Qu Benqiao took the lead in donating funds and personally raised funds from various ticket companies. He successively raised 2 million taels of silver to redeem the mining rights, and thus established Baojin Mining Co., Ltd. in Yangquan as the first Prime Minister. Qu Benqiao's patriotic deeds have left a rich and colorful mark in history.

The reason why Jin merchants were able to shine brightly in the Qing Dynasty is largely due to their concept of "managing the world and benefiting the people", which has been running through the entire commercial system of Jin merchants since their establishment. The spirit and culture of Jin merchants are actually the soul of Jin merchants. In contemporary society, the construction of clean culture needs to infuse the soul of Jin merchants, extract the essence from the excellent traditional culture of Jin merchants, and thus add luster to the clean culture of the new era.
